Additional information

The applicant consults the environmental impact assessment (EIA) officer at the Ministry of Environment and clearly states the nature and scope of project. Based on article 19 and schedule I of the environmental act 2008, the EIA officer advices the applicant on project for which environmental assessment is required.

The officer gives the applicant the list of consultants registered with the environmental assessment practitioners association of Lesotho (EAPAL). It is not mandatory for the applicant to consult with the EAPAL consultants. He/ She can consult any person who know how to make a project brief or the applicant can make the project brief if he/she knows how to do it.

All manufacturing activities which does not require an environmental impact assessment to obtain a license : Manufacturing of concrete products; Water bottling; Bakery; Pre packing; Jewellery manufacturing; Tombstone manufacturing; Printing; Ice cubes; Art and crafts; Graphic design and sign writing; Honey processing. (Industrial licensing regulations 2014, Second schedule).
